- Years ago, we were able to carry these charming Peruvian characters made by Indians in the Andes mountains. For years, these angels and musicians were not being exported. Once again, Contents Interiors is proud to offer these Parade Musicians and Guardian Angels to you.
- Musicians are very important members among Indian societies where music is always present whenever there is a reason for a celebration. Different bands play at different ceremonies, each one performing in the traditional style of their community. Wearing rounded hats over a “Chullu” (wool knitted hat to protect them from the cold weather), the parade musician’s march in front of every parade and procession held throughout the year. As musicians are not paid to play, their wives carry a small figure representing them and after the parade, they approach the attendants and ask for contributions.
- Since Colonial time, the Peruvian Indians have been fascinated with Angels. They also believe that if they lit candles and pray, someday their wishes will come true. Every family owns several angels to be used for different purposes. The “Guardian Angels” are believed to chase away the bad spirits. These angels are placed in areas where children sleep and play.
