Being a passionate “style-hound”, one of things that I dearly love is regularly meandering around the Contents Interiors showroom in order to get an overview of what is happening in the world of design. Carol and Tamara delight in spotting and absorbing the latest trends when they travel to furniture and design shows like the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan and the High Point Market in North Carolina. When they design the showroom’s vignettes, the inspiration they received during their journeys emanates. You may recall, the installation of the amazing Desert Italia Apartment in the showroom was a part of their creative process in the past year. From my exploration around the showroom today, I see that coppery colors are clearly present in the design world ‘zeitgeist’ and I love this!
Arizonans are no strangers to the beauty of copper. Indeed, copper has been incorporated into our Southwest Lifestyle for a long time and, likely, it is here to stay. The idea of bringing the gorgeous coppery hues from the desert into our homes inspires many. Who can resist the soft salmon colors, the warm coppery browns, or the golden reds of the sunset on the Catalina and Rincon Mountains? The warmth of these coppery tones brings us a sense of comfort, but also conveys a sense of majesty and abundance in our living spaces. An accent wall in a coppery texture, can serve as a rich backdrop for otherwise neutral furniture and rooms. Copper accents like the fun Copper Splash Wall Ornaments or the very modern copper Sculpture Lamp, in the Desert Italia Apartment, can brighten a room, much like wearing jewelry does. And speaking of jewelry, the Jewelry Cuff End Table is a playful way to bling up any room. Check out the Copper Vases in the Desert Italia Apartment. Adding succulent botanicals to these stunning vases is grounding, adds a verdant pop, and is authentic to our desert life. And, the pairing of greens and coppery tones is fabulous! Just imagine the new Emerald Table, with its coppery inlay, in your dining room! Talk about gem-like beauty! It’s incredible!
There are a number of other copper-toned objects of art gracing our showroom, like the stunning Raku vases and lamps by Joni Pevarnik. Copper is a favorite of many artists, as they hammer and mold the metal into treasures. The hammered copper Bar and Cocktail Table are super fun and the Cauldron Tables, with and without legs, from Turkey, are both attractive and interesting in any Traditional or Southwest- styled living room. Copper tones also go extremely well in Modern settings. Tamara and Carol noticed this fierce trend in color at the Milan market, where designers referenced the hue as salmon or ‘rose gold’. The shiny, penny-colored, set of 3 Copper Nesting Tables, the Copper Framed Cocktail Table, the Copper Mirrored Cabinet, and Three-set Mirror, and the Recycled Steel Dining Table, finished with heat treatment in coppery color, are all perfectly at home in any Contemporary setting. Come in soon to wander and gaze at all the coppery magnificence in our showroom!
